(3S,5S)-Atorvastatin is an inactive enantiomer of Atorvastatin and can activate the pregnane X receptor (PXR). Atorvastatin is an orally active HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that effectively decreases blood lipids.

  • (3S,5S)-Atorvastatin increases CYP2B and CYP3A mRNA content with equal ability as atorvastatin.
  • It induces luciferase activity with an EC50 of 12.4 μM at 100 μM concentrations.
  • The addition of (3S,5S)-Atorvastatin to a 2-formylphenylboronic acid (FPBA)/l-tryptophanol mixture enhances the intensity of l-tryptophanol fluorescence.
