4-Methylumbelliferyl β-D-glucopyranoside is a fluorogenic β-D-glucoside substrate for measuring β-glucosidase activity. Upon enzymatic cleavage it releases 4-methylumbelliferone (4-MU), a highly fluorescent product useful for quantitative enzymatic assays and high-throughput screening. The excitation maxima of 4-MU are pH-dependent, and the compound is provided as a white to off-white powder suitable for laboratory use.
- Fluorogenic substrate for β-glucosidase assays.
- Releases 4-methylumbelliferone with emission ~445-454 nm.
- Excitation maxima depend on pH (≈330, 370, 385 nm).
- High purity (≥98.0% by HPLC) for reliable results.
- Available in multiple pack sizes, including 500 MG.
- Molecular formula C16H18O8; molecular weight 338.31 g/mol.
