5-Ph-IAA-AM is an eggshell-permeable analog of 5-Ph-IAA containing an acetoxymethyl (AM) group. It provides enhanced protein degradation in laid embryos and can be used to uncover the roles of proteins in *C. elegans*, particularly those involved in embryogenesis and development, through temporally controlled protein degradation.

  • Induced better protein degradation in *C. elegans* embryos compared to 5-Ph-IAA.
  • Embryos injected with 5-Ph-IAA-AM failed to form ventral furrows or undergo other gastrulation processes, consistent with the loss of myosin function in early *Drosophila* embryos.
