(5E,9E,13E)-Teprenone is an isomer of Teprenone with antiulcer activity. It induces transcriptional activation of heat shock protein (HSP) genes, which may enhance gastric mucosal defense under stress conditions. In vitro studies suggest that it might transiently activate the transcription of the HSP70 gene. In vivo, it induces heat shock protein accumulations in rat gastric mucosa, including HSP90, HSP70, HSC70, and HSP60.
