7-Methylcoumarin is a coumarin derivative known for its potent hepatoprotective and antioxidant properties. It acts as a mechanism-based inhibitor for CYP2A6 and has been shown to reduce liver damage markers and oxidative stress. It significantly reduces alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and serum bilirubin (TB) in rats with CCl4-induced liver damage, while restoring total protein (TP) and albumin (TA) levels in serum.
