PROTACs consist of two different ligands connected by a linker: one ligand for an E3 ubiquitin ligase and the other for the target protein, leveraging the intracellular ubiquitin-proteasome system to selectively degrade target proteins. It is also a click chemistry reagent, containing an Alkyne group that can undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with molecules containing Azide groups.
