KT5823 is a selective cGMP-dependent protein kinase (PKG) inhibitor with a Ki value of 0.23 μM, also inhibiting PKA and PKC. This staurosporine-related protein kinase inhibitor increases thyroid-stimulating hormone-induced NIS expression and iodide uptake in thyroid cells. It arrests cells after the G0/G1 boundary and causes increases in apoptotic DNA fragmentation.

  • Arrests HSF55 cells in the G0 or G1 phase of the cell cycle.
  • Induces dose-dependent increases in apoptotic DNA fragmentation in unstressed HRE-H9 cells.
  • Enhances 8-pCPT-cGMP-induced VASP phosphorylation in human platelets.
  • Blocks ameliorating effects of high-dose Bay 60-7550 in Aβ1-42-treated mice on memory.
