Perspiration is on everything we touch with our fingers or that comes into contact with our bodies. Sweat can react with materials and trigger allergies, or it can shorten product service life via corrosion or discoloration. Natural human perspiration has a complex composition that depends on the type of sweat gland, the person’s metabolism and hydration level. This pH 4.3 solution is used to determine the colorfastness of textiles to the effects of acid perspiration according to Test Method 15. The same formulation is also used to determine colorfastness to a combination of light and perspiration accoreding to Test Method 125. It is applicable to dyed, printed or otherwise colored textile fibers, yarns and fabrics of all kinds. This formulation can also be used for the testing of dyestuffs as applied to textiles.
