Description
ADP (or 5’-ADP) is an ester of pyrophosphoric acid with the nucleosideadenosine. It is the product of ATP dephosphorylation by ATPases and it is converted back to ATP by ATP synthases. ATP is an important energy transfer molecule in cells.
ADP was used as a test compound for studying the endothelium-dependent vascular response in salt sensitive (DS) and salt resistant Dahl rats (DR). The product was used to study the different P2-purinergic receptor subtypes on canine vascular smooth muscle and endothelium.
