BioVendor, LLC alpha-Fetoprotein Human ELISA (96 wells)

Supplier: BioVendor, LLC RIS0018R
Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) Human ELISA, 96 wells. RUO immunoassay kit to quantify AFP in serum. Calibration range: 10160 IU/ml. Detection limit: 1 IU/ml. Synonyms: Alpha-1-fetoprotein, Alpha-fetoglobulin. Summary: AFP is normally produced during fetal and neonatal development by the liver, yolk sac, and in small concentrations by the GI tract. Serum AFP decreases rapidly after birth; by the second year of life, only trace amounts are normally detected. Abnormally high serum AFP is seen in several malignant diseases, most notably nonseminomatous testicular cancer and primary hepatocelluar carcinoma. Elevated AFP has been observed in patients diagnosed with seminoma with nonseminomatous elements, but not in patients with pure seminoma. Elevated serum AFP has been seen in noncancerous diseases, including ataxia telangiectasia, hereditary tyrosinemia, neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, acute viral hepatitis, chronic active hepatitis and cirrhosis. Serum AFP is also elevated in pregnant women.
