Ulex Europaeus Agglutinin I (UGA I) binds to glycoproteins and glycolipids containing alpha-linked fucose residues, such as ABO blood group glycoconjugates. It has been established as an excellent marker for human endothelial cells. Agarose Bound Ulex Europaeus Agglutinin is prepared using affinity-purified lectin and heat stable, cross-linked 4% agarose beads. The attachment of the lectins through a hydrophilic spacer arm to the beads is carefully controlled to preserve lectin activity and minimize conformational changes of the bound lectins. The recommended inhibiting/eluting sugar is 50-100 mM L-fucose.
