Amphotericin B increases fungal plasma membrane permeability by binding to sterols, thereby protecting cell cultures from contamination by yeast and multicellular fungi. APPLICATION: Amphotericin B is often used as an antifungal, anti-yeast and anti-mold agent to prevent fungal contamination of cell cultures.
