Ampicillin trihydrate is a broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic effective against various gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. For research use only.

  • It inhibits the growth of E. coli of swine origin in a dose-dependent manner, with an effective inhibitory concentration of 2.5 uG/mL.
  • It is effective in alleviating hemorrhagic enteritis symptoms in pigs.
  • After oral administration, ampicillin trihydrate produces maximum concentrations in bile twice as high as in serum, and peak concentration in portal blood is twice as high as in peripheral blood.
  • It also provides neuroprotection against ischemia-reperfusion brain injury by reducing MMPs activities and increasing GLT-1 expression, significantly reducing medial hippocampal cell death following global forebrain ischemia.
