Amyloid Beta Protein (1-40) Trifluoroacetate, H-Asp-Ala-Glu-Phe-Arg-His-Asp-Ser-Gly-Tyr-Glu-Val-His-His-Gln-Lys-Leu-Val-Phe-Phe-Ala-Glu-Asp-Val-Gly-Ser-Asn-Lys-Gly-Ala-Ile-Ile-Gly-Leu-Met-Val-Gly-Gly-Val-Val-OH, 131438-79-4, C194H295N53O58S, Mr 4329.86, 5mg. Ab40 trifluoroacetate salt, b-Amyloid (1-40). Amyloid b-peptide (1-40) showed both neurotrophic and neurotoxic effects in dependence on the neuronal age and the concentration of the b-protein. Ab 1-40 has been used as well as Ab 1-42 to detect amyloid b-protein multimers in the cerebrospinal fluid of Alzheimer's disease patients. The sequence of this peptide corresponds to the sequence of human, bovine, canine, feline, ovine, guinea pig, and rabbit Ab40. The inverted sequence can be used as inactive control in experiments employing Ab 1-40. For detailed descriptions of the preparation of wild-type and mutant Ab 1-40 monomers and protofibrils please see the paper of Jan, Hartley, and Lashuel.
