Chickens were immunized with highly purified Campylobacter jejuni hippurate hydrolase (HipO) and the eggs were collected and delipidated. Antibody was immunoaffinity purified off a HipO containing immunosorbent. Antibody concentration was determined using an absorbance at 280 nm: 1.32 equals 1.0 mg of IgY. This antibody reacts with Campylobacter jejuni hippurate hydrolase as determined by ELISA and it can detect Campylobacter jejuni cells with Immunofluorescence staining. Optimal working dilutions should be determined experimentally by the investigator.
