Description
- How the kit works:
- The way a crystalline material absorbs or reflects light depends on its crystal structure, which can change when heat is applied. In this experiment, two compounds formed by reacting metal salts with the [HgI₄]²⁻ ion are heated on a hot plate, causing a color change. Upon cooling, the compounds return to their original color, demonstrating a reversible change in crystal structure
- Kit Includes:
- 3 x 25 g Mercury (II) Chloride
- 3 x 25 g Potassium Iodide
- 1 x 15 g Silver Nitrate
- 2 x 25 g Copper (II) Chloride, Anhydrous
