Azido-PEG3-carboxytetramethylrhodamine is used as a water soluble azide functionalized- TAMRA dye. The water-soluble PEG spacer minimizes the interaction between the dye and the biomolecule to be labeled, used to detect or label alkyne- or cyclooctyne-containing molecules or biomolecules by fluorescence spectroscopy following an azide-alkyne click chemistry reaction.
