Benzamil hydrochloride is an Amiloride analogue that acts as a Na+/Ca2+ exchanger (NCX) inhibitor (IC50~100 nM). It also functions as a non-selective Deg/epithelial sodium channels (ENaC) blocker and can enhance myogenic vasoconstriction. This product inhibits TRPP3-mediated Ca2+-activated currents with an IC50 of 1.1 μM.

  • Inhibits neuronal and heterologously expressed small conductance Ca2+-activated K+ channels.
  • Shown to improve survival in stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRSP) when treated at 0.7 mg/kg/day (s.c.).
