Benzyl salicylate is a salicylic acid benzyl ester used as a fragrance additive or UV light absorber. It can inhibit Cisplatin-induced apoptosis and ROS generation, and attenuate Cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity by inhibiting the JNK/ERK/p38 signaling pathway. Studies have also observed it to cause embryonic resorption, offspring mortality, and neural tube defects in rat models, exhibiting teratogenicity.
