Bluo Gal (5-Bromo 3-Indolyl β-D-Galactopyranoside) is a chromogenic substrate used to detect β-galactosidase activity in molecular biology applications. When β-galactosidase cleaves Bluo Gal, a blue product is formed, indicating the presence of active enzyme.
