Bordet Gengou Agar Base is the classic medium for detecting and isolating Bordetella pertussis and Bordetella parapertussis, the agents of whooping cough. Potato infusion and peptone supply nutrition while a high agar level gives a firm surface at final pH 6.7. Prepared with added glycerol and defibrinated blood, it supports these highly fastidious organisms and reveals their characteristic hemolysis. A reference base for clinical and respiratory microbiology. Dehydrated powder, store in a cool dry place. Packaged as 500 g.
