Isolated from hyssop oil, (-)-Bornyl acetate (L-(-)-Bornyl acetate) is an antifungal agent. It is a less active enantiomer of (+)-Bornyl acetate. Wavy roots from seedlings exposed to (-)-bornyl acetate are significantly longer than those from seedlings exposed to (+)-bornyl acetate. When applied individually to barley seedlings, (-)-Bornyl acetate reduced powdery mildew infection compared to controls without ether.
