Brain Heart Infusion Agar w/ Horse Blood & Taurocholate (BHIY-HT) is an enriched non-selective media for the germination & cultivation of Clostridium difficile cells & spores along w/ other fastidious anaerobic microorganisms. BHIY-HT may be used w/ ASTM E2839 for testing the efficacy of antimicrobial agents on C. difficile spores. This media is prepared, dispensed, & packaged under oxygen-free conditions to prevent the formation of oxidized products prior to use.BHIY-HT agar is an enriched non-selective media used for the isolation & cultivation of a wide variety of microorganisms, including yeast & molds. The basic nutritive properties are brain heart infusion, meat peptone, & yeast extract. Horse blood is added to stimulate growth. Sodium taurocholate is added to promote the germination of Clostridium difficile spores.
