Alkali Scientific Brilliant Green Agar 20mL Plate, 10/Pk

Supplier: Alkali Scientific BGBP00
Brilliant Green Agar is a selective and differential medium commonly used for isolating Salmonella species from food, water, and environmental samples. Each sterile 100 × 15 mm plate contains 20 mL of nutrient agar with lactose, sucrose, and the selective dye brilliant green. The dye strongly inhibits gram positive bacteria and many gram negative organisms, reducing microbial competition and allowing Salmonella species to grow. The medium differentiates organisms through carbohydrate fermentation reactions using phenol red as a pH indicator. Salmonella typically does not ferment lactose or sucrose, producing alkaline reactions that form pink to red colonies against the colored medium. This distinctive appearance enables rapid identification and isolation of Salmonella during microbiological analysis.
