Evidence from outbreaks of listeriosis has indicated that the principle route of transmission is via consumption of foodstuffs contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Implicated vehicles of transmission include turkey, frankfurters, coleslaw, pasteurized milk, Mexican style cheese, and pate.
