Butenafine Hydrochloride is a synthetic benzylamine antifungal. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of sterols through the inhibition of squalene epoxidase. This drug is used to control dermal fungal infections such as athlete's foot and ringworm. It has excellent penetration into the epidermis and a prolonged retention time, conferring residual therapeutic activity after treatment cessation. Butenafine also possesses anti-inflammatory activity.
