Endogenous lipid which significantly reduced food intake in a dose-dependent fashion when administered to rats and mice (100 mg/kg, i.p.), without causing taste aversion. Has been found to enter the brain (concentrating in the hypothalamus) when administered systemically and also reduced food intake when infused intracerebroventricularly (nanomolar concentrations). This suggests that mediation of effects is via the CNS. Chronic infusion resulted in a reduction of both food intake and body weight. Alternative name: C16:0 NAPE, NPPE. Purity: ≥98% (TLC). Solubility: Soluble in 100% ethanol (2 mg/ml with ~30 minutes sonication at 37°C) or dimethylacetamide (1 mg/ml with ~30 minutes sonication at 37°C). Long Term Storage: -20°C.
