C80EZ® Insect is intended for the cryopreservation of insect cells across an array of types and applications (e.g., entomological research, protein expression). The media uniquely achieves predominant formation of nanoscale cubic ice during freezing, in contrast to the formation of large hexagonal ice in traditional cryopreservation media. The nanoscale ice attenuates cell mechanical damage due to extracellular ice formation and significantly improves the post-thaw viability and functionalities of cell types that traditionally survive poorly from cryopreservation. Use of C80EZ Insect eliminates the need for animal/human sera or antifreeze proteins.
