Carbenicillin Disodium Salt is a penicillin-derived Beta-lactam antibiotic that interferes with cell wall synthesis, primarily in gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, while showing low toxicity to plant tissues. Carbenicillin acylates the penicillin-sensitive transpeptidase C-terminal area by opening the lactam ring. This inactivation intercepts the cross-linkage of peptidoglycan strands, by impeding the third and last phase of bacterial cell wall synthesis. This prompts inadequate bacterial cell wall synthesis and causes cell lysis.CAS Number: 4800-94-6Molecular Weight: 422.4Chemical Formula: C17H16N2O6SNa2Solubility: Soluble in water: clear and slightly yellow solution at 50 mg/mLStorage Temperature: +4CResearch or further manufacturing use only, not for food or drug use.
