Carbonic anhydrase, bovine erythrocytes (EC 4.2.1.1) is a ubiquitous zinc-containing metalloenzyme found in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It catalyzes the reversible conversion of carbon dioxide to bicarbonate and protons. This enzyme can be utilized for research related to cancer, glaucoma, obesity, and epilepsy. For in vitro use, the lyophilized powder should be dissolved in ice-cold water at a concentration of 0.1 mg/mL and stored in an ice bath until use.
