Carnauba wax No.1 yellow(CW) is an ester based wax that can be extracted from palm leaves. The composition of this wax contains aliphatic esters, -d-hydroxy esters and unsaturated alcohols. It can be used as a glossing agent in a variety of pharmaceutical products.CW may be used as a hydrophobic excipient which can be used to modify the kinetics of polymeric gel in a drug releasing system. It can be used in dry polymeric coatings which can increase the crystallization and improve the stability of amorphous solid drug formulations. It may also be used as a component of lipids which can be used to tune and improve the flowability and designing of solid drugs.
