It has two forms: (+)-Catechin and its enantiomer (-)-Catechin. (+)-Catechin inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) with an IC50 of 1.4 μM, while (-)-Catechin promotes hBM-MSC adipocyte differentiation.
