CD40L (CD154; TRAP) is a ligand to CD40/TNFRSF5 that generates a costimulatory signal up-regulating IL-4 synthesis. It is specifically expressed on activated CD4+ T-lymphocytes and involved in NF-κB/MAPK pathway activation, B cell differentiation, maturation, and apoptosis. This full-length monomer (M113-L261) is expressed in HEK293 cells with N-terminal His- and Flag-tag, belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family. It plays a major role in immune response and is a target for inflammation, binding and signaling through integrins.
- Ligand to CD40/TNFRSF5, generating costimulatory signals
- Expressed on activated CD4+ T-lymphocytes
- Involved in NF-κB/MAPK pathway activation and B cell processes
- Enhances cytokine production like IL-4, IL-10, interferon-γ, and TNF-α
- Induces endothelial cell VCAM-1 expression in vitro and in vivo
