CD45 (LCA) is a transmembrane protein-tyrosine-phosphatase. The LCAfamily includes a group of proteins present on all mature B and Tlymphocytes, thymocytes, macrophages, spleen, lymph node, chroniclymphatic leukemia cells, bone marrow, thymus and granulocytes. It isabsent in brain, kidney, liver, heart, erythrocytes, platelets and normalserum. The leukocyte common antigen is an abundant lymphocyte surfaceantigen that has been reported to be involved in signaling through the Tcell antigen receptor. This antibody may be useful in the evaluation ofmalignant lymphoma and nonlymphoid tumors. Neoplastic B and T cellsin leukemia and in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma stain positive and hence canbe distinguished from sarcomas and carcinomas.
