This antibody reacts with CD71 antigen (also known as T9 or TransferrinReceptor), a homo-dimeric type II membrane protein consisting of twoidentical sub-units of approximately 95 kD covalently linked by twointermolecular disulfide bonds. Transferrin Receptor is present on 10% ofthymocytes, activated lymphocytes, myelocytes, and nucleated erythrocyteprecursors. Broad distribution of Transferrin Receptor (TR) has beenobserved on carcinomas and sarcomas of various origins and malignantlymphomas. Clone H68.4 is specifically directed against the humanTransferrin Receptor cytoplasmic tail.
