Description
Pseudoephedrine, a phenethylamine analog, is used as a decongestant in over-the-counter cough and cold preparations such as Sudafed, Claritin-D, and MucinexD. Pseudoephedrine is a reagent in illegal methamphetamine production and is used by athletes as a performance enhancing drug. This internal standard is applicable for quantitation of pseudoephedrine levels in urine, serum, or plasma by LC/MS or GC/MS for sports testing, urine drug testing, forensic analysis, clinical toxicology, and isotope dilution methods.
