Chocolate Agar with Enrichment is a highly nutritious, non selective culture medium used for the cultivation of fastidious microorganisms that require specific growth factors. Each tube contains 9 mL of agar prepared with heated blood that releases essential nutrients including hemin (X factor) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (V factor). The heating process lyses red blood cells, producing the characteristic brown color associated with chocolate agar. Additional enrichment components provide vitamins, amino acids, and other nutrients that enhance microbial recovery. This medium is widely used for the isolation and maintenance of organisms such as Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Neisseria meningitidis. Chocolate Agar with enrichment supports reliable growth of delicate pathogens in clinical microbiology laboratories.
