Chocolate Agar (II), 15×100mm plates supplied in packs of 10, is an enriched nonselective medium designed for the cultivation of fastidious microorganisms such as Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Neisseria meningitidis. The medium is produced by heating blood to lyse red blood cells, releasing essential growth factors including hemin (X factor) and NAD (V factor), which are required for the growth of certain demanding bacterial species. Chocolate Agar (II) is widely used in clinical diagnostics, research laboratories, and microbiological quality control testing to support the recovery of fastidious pathogens from clinical and environmental specimens. Each plate is pre poured with sterile agar at a consistent depth to ensure reproducible growth conditions, reliable diagnostic performance, and convenient use in routine microbiology workflows.
