Citreoviridin is a toxin derived from Penicillium citreoviride NRRL 2579. It is known to inhibit brain synaptosomal Na+/K+-ATPase and, in microsomes, significantly stimulate both Na+/K+-ATPase and Mg2+-ATPase activities in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, Citreoviridin inhibits cell proliferation and enhances apoptosis in human umbilical vein endothelial cells.
