Columbia CNA Agar with 5% Sheep Blood 20mL Plates, 10/Pk is a selective and differential medium formulated for the isolation of Gram positive bacteria from mixed clinical specimens. The base medium is enriched to support fastidious organisms and contains the antibiotics colistin and nalidixic acid, which inhibit Gram negative bacteria and enhance selective recovery of Gram positive organisms. The addition of 5% defibrinated sheep blood provides essential nutrients and allows visualization of hemolytic reactions, supporting differentiation of organisms such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Enterococcus species. Each plate is pre poured with 20mL of sterile agar to ensure consistent depth, reliable growth conditions, and dependable performance in diagnostic microbiology laboratories.
