It forms complexes with Lewis bases, such as dimethylsulfide, which is a precursor to organocopper reagents. Reactions involving Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP) and Cu-catalyzed Cross-Dehydrogenative Couplings (CDC) are catalyzed by CuBr complexes.
