CP-31398 restores mutant p53 tumor suppressor function in vitro without affecting p53 homologs p63 and p73, and in vivo inhibiting UVB-induced skin carcinogenesis in mice. Stabilization of p53 inhibits ubiquitination without altering phosphorylation at Ser12 or Ser20 or MDM2 binding. Administration of this or similar compounds has the potential to enhance cytotoxic chemotherapy. Alternative name: N'-[2-[2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)ethenyl]-4-quinazolinyl]-N,N-dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine dihydrochloride. Purity: ≥98% (HPLC). Solubility: Soluble in water (25mg/ml) or DMSO (5mg/ml).
