CP 55,940 is a synthetic cannabinoid molecule developed by Pfizer that has similar but more potent effects to THC in behavioral and receptor binding tests. It is a cannabinoid receptor agonist, with EC50=0.2 and 0.3 nM for CB1 and CB2 respectively. CP 55,490 is reported as both an agonist (EC50 = 5 nM) and antagonist for GRP55 depending on the assay and dosages uses. Currently used to study the endocannabinoid system.
