DescriptionCTS™ (Cell Therapy Systems) Neurobasal™ Medium is a serum-free basal medium for the long-term viability of prenatal and embryonic hippocampal and other neurons of the CNS. When used with B-27™ Supplement, Neurobasal™ Medium CTS™ media can cultivate human glioblastoma, neurons, neural stem cells, and non-CNS lineage cell types with good viability and survival. Neurobasal™ Medium CTS™ media supplemented with B-27™ supplement contains anti-oxidants to reduce reactive oxygen damage, and no glutamate and aspartate amino acids, allowing for study of excitatory neurotransmitters.
Prior to use with glioblastoma or neural stem cells, Cell Therapy Systems Neurobasal™ Medium CTS™ media must be supplemented with L-glutamine or GlutaMAX™-I CTS™ supplement. In addition, either a serum-free supplement or serum needs to be added. Our recommended supplement for human cells is B-27™ Supplement (Cat. No. 17504).
