Cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR) is a powerful second messenger involved in calcium mobilization. It is synthesized from NAD+ by an enzyme called ADP-ribosyl cyclase. cADPR primarily elevates cytosolic calcium levels through the Ryanodine receptor-mediated release of calcium from the endoplasmic reticulum, and also by facilitating extracellular calcium influx via the opening of TRPM2 channels.
