Cytidine 5'-diphosphate trisodium salt (CDP) is formed through the transfer of a phosphoryl group from ATP to cytidine monophosphate (CMP), a reaction catalyzed by uridine monophosphate kinase (UMPK). Cytidine 5′-diphosphate can be utilized to produce Cytidine triphosphate (CTP), which is essential for the synthesis of DNA and RNA. It can also be used for the diagnostics and research of CDP-l-ribitol pyrophosphorylase A (CRPPA) muscular dystrophy.
- Generated via phosphoryl group transfer from ATP to CMP
- Catalyzed by uridine monophosphate kinase (UMPK)
- Plays a role in producing cytidine triphosphate (CTP)
- Essential for DNA and RNA synthesis
- Useful for diagnostics and research of CRPPA muscular dystrophy
