Cytochalasin D (Zygosporin A) is a potent, cell-permeable inhibitor of actin polymerization, derived from fungus. It works by binding to G-actin, thereby inhibiting the interaction between G-actin and cofilin. This action also reduces the binding of cofilin to F-actin, consequently decreasing the rate of both actin polymerization and depolymerization in living cells.
- Effectively disrupts the dynamics of actin filaments.
- Can easily enter cells to exert its effects.
- Prevents cofilin from interacting with G-actin.
- Modulates actin dynamics within cells.
- Can lower the amount of survivin in the tumor environment by reducing exosome release.
- Affects the localization and activity of the Yap protein.
