Cytoclear is a uniquely formulated and extremely popular product used in clinical and research cytogenetics laboratories that enhances sample quality and reduces analysis time by reducing/removing unwanted cytoplasm from cyotgenetic samples prior to subsequent brightfield or FISH analysis. Typical improvements afforded to samples undergoing brightfield analysis include better-spread chromosomes with increased banding resolution. On samples undergoing FISH analysis, typical improvements include increased hybridisation efficiencies, brighter FISH signals and reduced background levels due to non-specifical hybridisation. Cytoclear is introduced into the fixation stage(s) of the harvesting protocols for cytogenetic suspension cultures and can also be used during the fix stage for improving the outcome from direct tissue FISH assays.
