β-D-Glucose pentaacetate (Penta-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranose) is a glucose derivative primarily used to explore the mechanism of insulin secretion. In cellular assays, it showed an IC50 of > 200 μM against human A549, DU-145, HeLa, MCF7, and NIH3T3 cells after 48 hours. In vitro, it is slightly less potent than α-D-Glucose Pentaacetate in stimulating insulin secretion.
