D-N-Acetylgalactosamine is an endogenous metabolite. It is a cell surface glycosylation residue that participates in cell-cell/cell-matrix interaction as a recognition site for cell surface receptors. It binds to the asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR) on hepatocytes via the terminal glycosylated protein, affecting the interaction between apoptotic extracellular vesicles (apoEVs) and ASGPR, blocking the internalization of apoEVs, and thereby blocking the regulatory effect of apoEVs on the liver, affecting liver homeostasis and regeneration.
